MICHAEL R. GOSNELL

Shareholder

Michael Gosnell joined the firm as a shareholder in April 2004.  He has practiced general civil law for more than 31 years and focuses on real estate litigation and collections, primarily foreclosures of real estate mortgages, and representation of creditors in bankruptcy.  In this practice, Mr. Gosnell represents financial institutions and other lenders on many issues related to lending practices and lender liability.  He is knowledgeable about federal regulations relating to lending, particularly with regard to the Truth-In-Lending regulation and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  Mr. Gosnell has tried cases in both state and federal courts in matters including real estate, business litigation, lender liability, and personal injury.  He is thoroughly familiar with landlord/tenant relationships and represents many landlords in eviction proceedings.In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Gosnell has extensive experience representing creditors in bankruptcy, especially in Chapter 7 and 13 cases.  He also has experience in analyzing the feasibility of a debtor’s Chapter 13 bankruptcy plan and in obtaining termination from the Bankruptcy Code's automatic stay provisions.Another valuable aspect of Mr. Gosnell's legal experience is his lengthy exposure to transactional real estate work, particularly in the area of real estate closings and drafting of leases.  Mr. Gosnell has handled numerous closings, representing sellers, buyers, and lenders.

When not practicing law, Mr. Gosnell is an avid golfer who has competed in state and national events.  He has played in both the Kentucky State Amateur and Kentucky State Open on several occasions, and in many other local tournaments.  He is the past club champion at several golf clubs.  He also donates time serving his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  And, he is a doting grandfather.
